Charles (Charlie) G. Howell

Athens – Charles (Charlie) G. Howell, 72, of Athens, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at his home. Born January 9, 1942 in Cutler, he was the son of the late Melvin and Maggie Newell Howell. He was a former employee of Tommy Mayle and Sons Construction and a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the Athens VFW Post 3477. He is survived by a sister, Wanda (Rich) Martin; a sister-in-law, Nancy Howell Rowland; several nieces and nephews; and his Fiancé, Joyce Smith. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Howell. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Lou Whitney officiating. Burial will be in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home.
