ATHENS – Virginia Ann Sticht Miller Kaufman, 62, of Athens, passed away peacefully late Wednesday evening, January 1, 2014 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center. Born April 18, 1951 in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late Robert George and Virginia Gertrude Hunter Sticht. Known to her friends as Twig, she was an educator for 35 years in the Athens area. She was active in Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross Blood Drive and an active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd. She also was an avid hobbyist who enjoyed knitting, cross stitch, sewing and quilting. She is survived by her husband, Gene; two daughters, Alaina (Chas) Pardee-Miller of Lakewood, Bethany (Mac) Callison of Dublin; a sister, Mary (Matt) Werling of Kettering; a brother, Rob (Rhonda) Sticht of Germantown; a sister-in-law, Judy (Paul) Rhynard of Rossburg; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are many friends including The Nifty Needlers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Dave Miller in 1993. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. Katharin Foster officiating. Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
