July 24, 1933 — October 31, 2013

ATHENS - Raymond John "Jack" Lafrinere Jr , age 80, of Athens, died at his home on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. Born July 24, 1933 in Cheboygan, Michigan, he was the son of the late Raymond John Sr. and Marquarite O'Grady LaFrinere. Jack was a well know home builder and remodeling specialist (R.J Lafrinere Building) in the Athens area for many years until his retirement in 1993. He was admired for his expertise in the field and the his high quality of workmanship. He began his building career in his early teens, working with his father and continued it throughout his life. He was an Army veteran having served from Feb. 14th, 1957 to Feb 13th, 1959. He was a member of the VFW and AMVETS of Athens. Jack will be remembered by many for his quick witted humor. No one could out do his exaggerated "one liners". He enjoyed the restoration of antique farm tractor and stationary engines. He also had a passion for building large scale doll houses and reading tons of Western books. Although he was born and rasied in Michigan, he was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and never missed watching a game. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Julia Brozak LaFrinere of Athens. His two daughters, Cindy (Mark) Weidner of Athens and Renee (Danny) Evener of Deltona, Fl. His cherished grandchildren, Bradley Weidner, Eric, Tanya and Chris Lafrinere, Tina Westbrook, Kyle Evener and Tessie Dorn and eight great grandchildren. His sister Patricia Williams of Michigan and many other relatives and friends. He also will be missed by his little dog and sidekick, Chi Chi. Words cannot express the sorrow felt by his loss and he will be remembered by many. Besides his parents, he was proceeded in death by his two sons, Eddie and Steve LaFrinere and a grandson, Joshua Evener. At Jack's request, no services will be observed at this time. A private memorial will be held for family and friends and will be announced at a later date.
