Frank Shumway Jr

THE PLAINS – Frank Shumway Jr., 91, of The Plains, died early Friday morning, July 19, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born November 7, 1921 in Millfield, he was the son of the late Frank and Mattie Phillips Shumway, Sr. He was a Chauncey High School graduate and a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was retired from Abex. He was a member and Past Master of the Athens Paramuthia Lodge 25 F & AM, a member of the Athens Shrine Club and York Scottish Rite. He was member and Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter 175 and a member of the Happy Hollow Boys Band and loved playing guitar. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Krolow of Nelsonville, Cathy “Susiebell” (Roy Kirkendall) Shumway of The Plains; three grandchildren, LaDonna Apke, Angela Stanforth, Garret (Hannah) Mathson; three great grandchildren, Michael (Daniel Fox) Apke, Jordan Apke, William Stanforth; and a sister, Caryl Ish of Columbus. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ladonna Shumway in 1987; a son, Gary Fuller killed in Vietnam in 1967; four siblings, Ruth Shumway, Phyllis Tolson, Lester Shumway, and Dwight Shumway. Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. where Masonic services will be at 7:45 PM.
