POMEROY – Joseph A. “Pepper Joe” Sinkowski, 64, of Pomeroy, Died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born June 27, 1949 in Carle Place, New York, he was the son of the late John A. and Catherine I. Breen Sinkowski. He was the 1967 New York Heavy Weight Wrestling Champion and attended Ohio State University in 1967 and 1968 on a full football scholarship playing for Woody Hayes. He was a farmer and enjoyed football, golf, all types of music and playing pool. He is survived by five children, Molly (Chad) Gregg of Marysville, Michelle Sinkowski of Millersport, Lance (Natosha) Sinkowski of Columbus, Crystal Sinkowski of Oakland, California, Catherine Sinkowski of Columbus; four grandchildren, Gabriel and Bathany Gregg, Ivan and Eric Sinkowski; His partner, Charlene Sinkowski; a brother, Mathew (Liz) McGuire and family of Manassas, Virginia; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Kay Dishong of Melbourne, Florida, George and Beth Dishong of Reynoldsburg; close friends, Richard and Mary Morrison and family and longtime friend, Richard Fish. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 20, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
