CHAUNCEY – Fredricka E. Shover, 68, of Chauncey, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Pickering House in Lancaster after a 12 year battle with cancer. Born January 9, 1945 in Athens and was the daughter of the late Fred and Helen Wiseman O’Nail. She was a 1962 graduate of Chauncey High School and had worked for the Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher and also for 911, retiring in 2008. She was the mayor of Chauncey for 16 years and was active with the Athens County Democratic Party for years, and a member of the American Legion. She also was an avid fan of Ohio University basketball and the Chicago Bears. She is survived by her brother, Dan (Karen) O’Nail of Chicago; sisters, Nancy (Dick) Jackson and Anita (Charles) Matheny of Chauncey, and Betty (Clarence) Davis of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Shirley O’Nail of Chauncey; Elizabeth Jenkins, whom she considered a daughter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were special to Fredricka. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Terry O’Nail; her grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Friends may call at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00-5:00 pm.
