Jennie "Kit" Evener

THE PLAINS – Jennie “Kit” Evener, 80, of The Plains passed away peacefully early Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at her home. She was born May 11, 1932 in Athens County and was the daughter of the late Henry Howard and Jennie Love Walters. Jennie raised five children. She had a strong work ethic and worked very hard throughout her life. She enjoyed many activities over the years. Jennie loved playing Bingo, but also enjoyed the many friends she made while playing along the way. In her later years, Jennie became very passionate about politics, especially keeping up on both local and national events. She is survived by, and leaves years of memories to be cherished by her loving and devoted daughters, Paulette Chalfant of Athens, Vicky (Charlie) Adkins of Albany, Joyce (John) McKinsey of Athens, and her son, Danny (Renee) Evener of Deltona, Florida. Jennie also leaves behind two sisters and two brothers, Betty (Phil) Pitchford of Logan, Judy (Don) Byers of Heath, Jack Howard of Athens and Louie (Betty) Howard of Maryland. She will be sadly missed as well by her ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Mena Brown, who had a very special place in her heart. Besides her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Paul Evener; her beautiful daughter, Kimberly Mathias; her loving sister, Wanda Smith; her younger brother, Doug “Dud” Howard; her sweet grandson, Joshua Evener, and an infant grandchild.
