Dortha M. Buck

ATHENS – Dortha M. Buck, 88, of Athens, died Saturday, January 05, 2013 at Ohio State University Medical Center. Born June 29, 1924 in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Lillian Alice Barlow Stiers. Dortha spent a lifetime of nurturing family, friends and animals, especially her dogs, Molly Rose and Herman. She formerly owned Dortha’s Day Care and was a former employee of the Athens State Hospital. Dortha also did seamstress work, quilting and crocheted and was a collector of dolls. She was the beloved mother of six children, Mary Alice Weekley of Lancaster, Carolyn Sue Litteral of Lancaster, James Allen (Arlene) Buck of Athens; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mommy, you will live forever in me. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Emerson Buck; three children, Janice Christine Tisdell, William Roger Litteral, Wilma Aretta Litteral; and her brother, Ellis Stiers. Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Bill O’Brien officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
