SHADE - Joe B. Pedigo, 76, of Shade, passed away Monday morning, September 17, 2012, the two year anniversary of his daughter Judy passing away, at his home. Born July 12, 1936 in Nelsonville, he was the son of the late John and Eloise Hooper Pedigo. He was a former employee of Lawhead Press and retired from Southern Ohio Coal, Mine 2 and the ATHENS -ity Schools where he was a bus driver. He was instrumental in starting The Shade Panthers Biddy League Basketball Program and considered those boys a part of his family and also was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge and attended Christ Community Wesleyan Church. He was our hero and cherished all of lifechr(39)s moments. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and won September 17, 2012. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly Van Meter Pedigo; three daughters, Jolynn (Art) Tipton, Jenni (David) Smith, Jill (Drew) Ford; a son-in-law, Jeff Smith; grandchildren, Kevin Smith and Fiance Kayla, Tim Erwin (Sarah), Kelly Erwin, Cassie (Corey) Champlin, Ashley Jo Jacobson, Trey (Megan) Ford, Sara Smith, Nate Smith, Shannon (Dirk) Arnold, Sara (Adam) Brooker, Bridget Wolfe, Brooke Schroeder; Great grandchildren, Kiera, Emma Grace, Zach, Noah and Baby Gabriel due in January 2013; siblings, Shelrell (Charlotte) Pedigo, Betsy Schoonover (Gary Bernosky); a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Brenda Van Meter; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Bill Elkes; sister-in-law, JoAnne Pedigo; &nbsp;and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Smith; a brother, Johnny Ben Pedigo; and a son-in-law, Ricky Smith. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Denver Dodrill officiating. Burial will be in Burson Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM.
