Harold McKibben

THE PLAINS - Harold H. McKibben, 85, of The Plains, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born March 2, 1927 in ATHENS county, he was the son of the late Carl and Iva Darrington McKibben. He was formerly employed with Fairmont Foods for 20 years, and retired from Ohio University, where he worked as a groundskeeper. He was also a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of The Plains VFW Post 3477, and attended the Poston United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia; two sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers. Private graveside services were held Saturday at New Marshfield Cemetery with Pastor Paul Elswick officiating.&nbsp;Per his request, no public services were observed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Poston United Methodist Church, 10831 State Route 550, Athens, Ohio 45701.
