NEW MARSHFIELD - Doris R. Carpenter, 83, of New Marshfield, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born December 18, 1928 in New Marshfield and was the daughter of the late Charles and Edith Liggett Sherman. She grew up working on the family farm, and continued enjoying farming throughout her life, had a strong religious faith, and loved gospel music. Doris was an avid trail rider and horse lover. She was never without a horse. She enjoyed bluegrass festivals with her family, attending horseshows, loved western movies and enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Christy (Skip) Horn of New Marshfield; two granddaughters, Dawn (Steve) Shingler of New Marshfield and Cyndi (Micah) Jones of Albany; three great grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) McDonald, Lucas Jones and Grace Jones; great great grandson, Braylon McDonald; siblings, Lois (Dwight) Weiss of Athens, Paul (Bessie) Sherman of New Marshfield, Joyce Sherman of New Marshfield; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Carpenter; and siblings, Kendall, Charles Jr, and Wendall Sherman; and nephew, Tommy Sherman and sister-in-law, Dorothy "Sis& Sherman. Per her wishes, she was cremated, and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home.
