<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">Betty L. Rex died Monday, February 27, 2012, at her home in Athens, Ohio, from complications of cancer. She was born in Carrollton, Ohio, to Grover and Lillian (Gatts) Braden and was a graduate of Navarre High School where she was a cheerleader and member of the band. On April 12, 1958 she married Donald A. Rex, who survives. <div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">Besides her husband, Betty is survived by her sons, Albert Mark (Bonnie) Rex of San Diego, California and Michael A. (Shelly) Rex of Athens, and grandchildren, Melissa and Donald J. Rex, and Ryan and Corey Rex. She is also survived by her brothers Bill Thomas of Minerva, Don Thomas of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Bob Thomas of North Canton. <div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ron Thomas. <div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">Betty was employed by Ohio University for over 18 years in the Human Resources Department. As an Administrative Assistant, she took great pride in her work and often spoke of the enjoyment she gained in working with students, co-workers and the staff encountered each and every day. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends from ATHENS -riends and Newcomers. <div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed her grandchildrenchr(39)s love of sports and music, and took so much pride in being able to watch them perform, that she rarely missed a game. <div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">According to Bettychr(39)s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private service for family members will be held at a later date. <div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; text-align: justify;">Memorial contributions can be made to: Appalachian Community Hospice at 30 Herrold Avenue, Athens, OH 45701.
