&nbsp; &nbsp; ATHENS - Barbara Agranoff, 85, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimers disease. Born June 23, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Florence Thanhauser Brunswick. She received her bachelorchr(39)s degree from Antioch College and her masters degree in social work from the University of Southern California. She was formerly a social worker with Community Chest,&nbsp;&nbsp;as well as&nbsp;an art and old/rare book dealer in Cincinnati. She loved art and music and was an accomplished piano player in her earlier years. Barb was an active member of Christ Community Wesleyan Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School classes. She was active in many community activities including ATHENS -riends and Neighbors. Barb was vibrant, creative, compassionate and a wonderful friend, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving daughter, Abby Lavelle of Athens; two grandchildren, Madeline Lavelle of Columbus, Jackson Lavelle of Athens; her special companion, Joseph Agranoff; a sister, Marion Wieder of Sarasota, FL; several nephews and her devoted caregivers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Oliver. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Denver Dodrill officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
