<a name="OLE_LINK3">Ethel Veronica Stutzman, age 96, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at Russell Nursing Home in Albany after a brief illness. She was born September 20, 1915, at the home of her paternal grandparents in Danville, Ohio. She was the only child of Lama and Ida (Blubaugh) Arnold. She resided in Mt. Vernon most of her adult life until moving to Albany to live with her daughter in 2006. Ethel graduated from Danville High School in 1933, where she excelled in athletics, especially basketball, and was editor of the yearbook. She attended The Ohio State University and became a lifelong fan of the football Buckeyes. She also enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Her uncle, Bill Wagner, brother to Hall of Fame shortstop Honus Wagner, helped instill in her a love of baseball as well. Her other hobbies included gardening and going to garage sales. She was a former member of St. Lukechr(39)s Catholic Church in Danville and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mt Vernon. She was employed as a telephone operator, clerk at the former Ringwaltchr(39)s Department Store in Mt. Vernon, and a receptionist at the former Cooper Bessemer in Mt. Vernon. Following her marriage to Paul R. Stutzman, who preceded her in death on May 12, 1998, she became a full-time homemaker. She is survived by her daughters, Stacia Stutzman of Albany, and Paula Sue (Suzy) Stutzman of Mt. Vernon. She cared for Suzy at home until her move to Albany. Ethel is also survived by a special cousin, Barbara Mickley of Danville, and friends and caregivers, Claudia Sheehan of Millfield and Steve Orth of Athens. She will be sadly missed by her cat, which she named "My Cat.& In addition to her parents, husband, and aunt and uncle, Bill and Vera Wagner, she was preceded in death by many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Per her request, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Mnsr Patrick Gaughan officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Her cremains will be interned at St. Lukechr(39)s Cemetery in Danville at a later date.
