ATHENS - Carl V. Tippie, 76, of Athens, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at his home. Born January 22, 1935 in Stewart, he was the son of the late Acel and Blanch Dunfee Tippie. He was a graduate of Rome Canaan Highschool, and retired from CSX Railroad after 35 years of service. He was also a United States Army Korean Veteran. He was well known for, and an accomplished Country-Western musician and singer. He was also a devout Mopar man. He is survived by two daughters, Carla (James) Proudfoot and Myra (Bruce) Brown All of Reisterstown, Maryland; four grandchildren, Mark and Rachael Brown, Tim (Sarah) Proudfoot, and Laura Proudfoot all of Reisterstown, Maryland; a great grandson, Eli Proudfoot; two sisters, Sissy (Rodney) Tippie-MurVay of ATHENS and Bernita Tippie Stauffer of Chillicothe; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Tippie; two brothers, Charles Tippie and Franklin D. Tippie; one sister, Berdena Barnhart; and a grandson, Steven Johnson. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. James Lambert officiating. Burial will be at Stewart Cemetery where military sevices will be conducted by ATHENS -FW Post 3477, Albany VFW Post 9893, and the American Legion Post 21.
