ATHENS - Richard Storer, 87, of ATHENS died Monday morning, September 19, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center. Born April 4, 1924 in Stewart, he was the son of the late Worley and Bessie Irene Coen Storer. He was a member of the Canaanville United Methodist Church and formerly employed with Railway Express. He was well known in the community for growing his pumpkins, which was a hobby he dearly loved and enjoyed. He was also an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife, Bettie; two children, Rex (Lynda) Storer of Athens, and Sandy (David) Howell of Athens; four grandchildren, Jane Storer, Rex Storer Jr., Ann Smith and Sally Cambrice; one great grandson, Ryan Smith; and one brother, Gaylord (Betty) Storer of Belpre. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at Canaanville United Methodist Church with Rev. James Lambert officiating. Burial will be at the Canaanville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
