ATHENS - Arthur L. "Art& Chiki, 86 of ATHENS -assed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Kimes Nursing and Rehab Center after an extended illness. Born May 20, 1924 in Sugar Creek, ATHENS county he was the son of the late Joseph and Katie (Ferenc) Chiki. He was a 1942 graduate of Chauncey Dover High School. He was a WW II veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps. Art was employed by the McBee Corporation for 25 years and later owned and operated Sunnybank Florist and Greenhouses. He was a long-time high school football official and was a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association. He served as coach of the ATHENS -ionchr(39)s Club Little League team for 10 years and in 1965 was honored by the Lionchr(39)s Club as their Man of the Year. Art was a member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F & AM of Athens, a former member of ATHENS county Shrine Club, ATHENS -ountry Club and the Ohio University Green and White Club. He was a life member of both the ATHENS -merican Legion Post 21 and ATHENS -FW Post 3477. Art was a member of the Chauncey Christian Church and formerly lived on Ohio Avenue in ATHENS -or 40 years. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and golfer. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, JoAnn (Williamson) Chiki, sons, Tom Chiki of The Plains, Randy (Sue) Chiki of The Plains, Steve (Linda) Chiki of Athens, and Jeff (Nancy) Chiki of Athens. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Amy (Tom) Dewey of Cincinnati, Kari (Geoff) Dew of Columbus, Katie Chiki of Columbus, Zachary Chiki (Rachel) of Athens, Andra (Joe) Chiki of, Logan. Andrew Chiki of Athens, Tim Chiki of Athens, Rachel Chiki of Athens, Abby Chiki of Athens. Tom Chiki of Columbus, Doug Chiki of Athens, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law George Williamson, Jr. (Mary Jo) of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Chiki; a brother, Bala Chiki; five sisters, Margaret Coen, Ethel Matthews, Theresa Buskey, Helen Chiki, and an infant sister. The family extends a special thank you to the Kimes Nursing and Rehab Center and their caring staff. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hughes Moquin Funeral Home with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in ATHENS -emory Gardens where Military services will be conducted by the ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW, and the Albany VFW.
