Francoise Whitmer

ATHENS - Francoise Whitmer died March 29, 2011 at Riverside Hospital surrounded by her beloved daughters and sons-in-law. She was born in Paris, France April 2, 1929. She grew up during the Nazi occupation of France. After the war, Francoise met ex-GI B Richard (Dick) Whitmer. They were married in Paris June 27, 1946. Together they moved to Columbus, Ohio where their two daughters Barbara(Michael) Ward of ATHENS and Christine (Jim) Lentz of Chicago were born. In 1976, Francoise and Dick moved to ATHENS -hio. Dick died in July 2003. They were married 57 years. She is also survived by four grand-children, Matthew Ward of Columbia, MO, Benjamin Ward of Brooklyn, NY, Stephanie Lentz of Milwalkee, WI, and Andrew Lentz of Washington, DC as well as one great-grandchild, Parker Ann Ward of Columbia,Mo. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Paulchr(39)s Catholic Church with Mnsr Patrick Gaughan officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery. Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Vigil for the deceased will be Friday at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Southeast Ohio Regional Food Center, 3 Cardaras Dr. Glouster, Ohio or to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society c/o St. Paul's Church, 38 N.
