THE PLAINS - Thomas A. Winner, 89, of The Plains, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Ochr(39)Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born April 20, 1921 in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Lesley Dow and Hattie Davis Winner. He attended Amesville High School and was a US Army Veteran of WWII serving as an aerial gunner, airplane mechanic and inspector. He retired from American Electric Power and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis A. Morgan of Vancouver, Washington; a son, William A. (Cynthia) Winner of Athens; nine grandchildren, Tricia (Toby) Beliveau and Rick (Aldemar) Winner both of Raleigh, North Carolina, Don (Amy) Morgan and Carolyn Hoats both of Vancouver, Washington, Marianne Morgan of Corpus Christi, Texas, Michael (Sherrie) Morgan of Johnchr(39)s Island, South Carolina, Christopher Winner of Columbus, John (Beth Mishler) Elmore and Robert Elmore both of Athens; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Theodore (LaDonna) Winner of Coshocton; many nieces and nephews and his extended family at Bob Evans in Athens. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Mitchem Winner in 2005; three sisters, Nancy Hickman, Esther Wright, Theresa Meek; a brother, Victor Winner; and his son-in-law, Don Morgan. Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Jo Yeakel officiating. Burial will be in ATHENS -emory Gardens where Military services will be conducted by the ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW and Albany VFW.
