ATHENS - Michael Morgan Kinnard, 53, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning at his home in Athens. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Janet (Selby) Kinnard. Michael was the son of Dr. Philip and Joan Kinnard of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Athens. He is also survived by his siblings, Kristi Kinnard, ATHENS -James Herpy), Tim Kinnard, ATHENS -Valerie), Jill Benzer, Kansas City, MO (Jeff) and Lori Gersbach, Charleston, SC (Jeff); an Aunt, Billie Jean (Kinnard) Barton, Bellefontaine; a cousin, Jennifer (Barton) Fitzgerald Atlanta, GA along with seven nieces and nine nephews and a great many friends. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Franklin Pipes and Helen Hart of Marietta; paternal grandparents, William and Freda Kinnard of Bellefontaine; an uncle, Bill Barton of Bellefontaine; a cousin, John Barton of MI. Michaelchr(39)s middle name was given in memory of the late Dr. T.H. Morgan of Athens. Michael was a 1975 graduate of ATHENS High School and attended Ohio University. Michael was employed by Stewart MacDonald in ATHENS and previously at The ATHENS -essenger. Michael enjoyed a life-long love of music and had performed with area bands, including Willie and the Poor Boys. Michael spent most of his life in Athens, truly loved the area and always considered ATHENS -is home. His interests included antiques, woodworking and photography. Michael truly enjoyed a funny story and the company of his good friends and family. He had recently become interested in the history of ATHENS and the surrounding area. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Jo Yeakel officiating. Burial will be in Clarks Chapel Cemetery.
