Mrs. D. Loree Barnes, 95, of Athens, Ohio died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in McAllen, Texas following a brief illness. She was born March 3, 1915 in Ross County near Londonderry, Ohio to Newton E. Ice and Bessie M. (Fry) Ice. A retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, Mrs. Barnes lived most of her life in Albany, Ohio where she was the oldest member (both in age and in membership) of the Albany Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of VFW Post 9893 Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow T. Barnes, two brothers (Beryl and Drexel Ice) and 2 sisters (Hortense Miller and Pansy Creachbaum). Mrs. Barnes is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Kehl (Richard) of Dayton, Ohio; a son, Timothy R. Barnes of Athens, Ohio; a granddaughter, Wendy K. Stettner (Alfred) of Burke, Virginia; a grandson, Mark A. Kehl (Catherine) of Riverside. California and by two great-grandsons, Daniel L. Stettner and David R. Kehl. Also surviving are her brother, Darrel E. Ice of Albany, Ohio, nine nieces, two nephews and a multitude of friends. Services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Delmer Dodrill officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.
