GLOUSTER - Herman "Smitty& Smith, 76, of Glouster, died Friday afternoon, October 29, 2010 at his home. Born December 21, 1933 in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Carl and Dorothy Stowers Smith. He retired from Janitrol Aircraft in Columbus with 20 years of service and had owned and operated Overhead Garage Door Company in Glouster for over 20 years. He loved flying and was a US Army Korean War Veteran serving from 1952 to 1955. He was a Life Member of The American Legion, Post 0414 of Glouster. He is survived by four children, Tara (Ron) Riley of Glouster, Tom Smith of Chauncey, Ron (Peggy) Smith of Lodi, Steve (Missy) Smith of Pataskala; eight grandchildren, Hunter Riley, Ryan Smith, Jake Etchison, Zachary (Stephanie) Smith, Molly (Tim) Merlino, Jennifer (Scott) Shakan, Jacob Smith, Kaitlyn Smith; four great grandchildren, Kaylin and Noah Smith, Evan Merlino, Daniel Shakan; eight siblings, Charles (Sue) Smith of Columbus, Shirley Brown of Johnstown, Donna (Clarence) Sams of Stewart, Esther (Les) McClain of Millfield, Tom (Emily) Smith of Alva, FL, Judy (Dwight) Davis of Zanesville, Linda Toole of Springfield, and Jim Smith of St. Marys, WV. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Monette Smith; two sisters, Margaret Smith, Helen Sycks; and a granddaughter, Morgan Riley. Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with his son, Ronald Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery where military services will be conducted by The ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW, and Albany VFW. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 PM.
