ATHENS - Dr. Frederick W. "Ted& Rente, III, born May 12, 1932 in Buffalo, New York, passed June 25, 2010 at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Rente was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Raymond Rente and Susan Joyce Rente. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Martha (Prox) Rente; daughters, Susan Lorraine Rente and Lynn Lorene Kempton of Tucson, Arizona and a son, Frederick W. Rente, IV of Athens, Ohio; a brother, Dr. Sidney R. Rente (Judy) of Belgrade, Montana and a sister, Lee Cooke Childs of Brookline, Mass; six grandchildren, Hilary Lloyd (Jason), Ryan Kempton, Kristin Rente, Dakota Baughman, Andy Baughman and Bradley Baughman; two great grandchildren, Cody and Carly Van Dyke; and many special nieces nephews and friends. Dr. Rente graduated from the University of Rochester in NY in 1953 and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy in Pennsylvvania in 1957. He completed an internship at the Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Michigan in 1958 and completed his residency in Radiology at Doctorchr(39)s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio in 1961. During his career he served as the Radiologist and Chairman of the Radiology Department and Chairman of the Intern Training Committee at Tucson General Hospital, Tucson, Arizona; Chairman of the Department of Radiology at the Benson Hospital, Benson, Arizona and Northern Cochise Hospital, Willcox, Arizona; and Dr. Rente was Associate Professor of Radiology at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine at Lewisburg, West Virginia. Dr. Rente joined the faculty at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979 as Professor of Radiology. For several years he was the Regional Assistant Dean of the Southeast Ohio Region and the Director of Medical Education at OUCOM/Ochr(39)Bleness Memorial Hospital Internship Program. Several awards and honors were given to Dr. Rente throughout his teaching career. Dr. Rente was a member of Clarks Chapel Methodist Church and Ohio University Emeriti Association. A celebration of Tedchr(39)s life will be held on July 25, 2010 at the ATHENS -ommunity Center from 2 to 4 PM.
