Edgar Martin Dorst

SHADE - E. Martin Dorst, 74, of Shade, went home to be with the Lord, Monday morning, March 29, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born Sept. 13, 1935 in Meigs County, he was the son of the late Edgar A. and Sibyl P. Smith Dorst. Martin retired as the Shade Post Master in 1992 and was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of Shade United Methodist Church, Savannah Lodge #466 F & AM, Albany Chapter # 558 OES, and Shade Community Center. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Grace M. Swartz Dorst; two sons, Craig A. (Brenda) Dorst of Athens, David M. (Amy) Dorst of Athens; a daughter, Tammy J. (Jerry) Foster of Shade; nine grandchildren, Zachary, Gabe, Addison Dorst, Grant and Olivia Dorst, Shane, Travis (Nikki), Stephanie and Trett Foster; one great grandson, Landon Tyler Foster. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Dorst; and a cousin raised in the home, Fred Smith. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Dean Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in Garden Cemetery where military services will be conducted by ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW, and Albany VFW. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 PM where Masonic Services will be at 8:00 PM.
