THE PLAINS - David A. Hawk, 84, of The Plains, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born March 29, 1925 in ATHENS county, he was the son of the late Clarence D. and Mary C. Beckett Hawk. He entered the US Navy in 1943 serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam before retiring from the Navy in 1965 as a CPO. He then began employment at Douglas Aircraft in 1965 and retired from MacDonald Douglas Aircraft In 1987 as Acting Electrical Leadman. He was a life member of F 6 BMFI VFW, FRA and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor J. Hawk; a brother, Richard Hawk of Shelby; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters, Otis, Edna, Hanes, Dale, Bernice, Virgil, Gordon, Benson, Eldon, Opal Mae, Russel, and Betty. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Foster officiating. Burial will be in Grahams Chapel Cemetery where military services will be conducted by ATHENS -FW, Albany VFW, and ATHENS -merican Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 4 to 6 PM.
