THE PLAINS - John Edward "The Fox& Paulisin, 87, of The Plains, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 2, 2009 at Kimes Nursing and Rehab Center. Born Jan. 10, 1922 in Athens, he was the son of the late John and Mary Paulisin. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII where he was in the Battle of the Bulge as a member of the 2nd Battalion 302nd Division Infantry regiment 94th Division. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He also enjoyed horse racing and betting on them and he enjoyed working on cars. He is survived by a son, John Paulisin of Costarica, ; a daughter, JoAnn Cummings of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Christopher, Shaun, Russell Cummings; a sister, Marge Plieman; two nieces, Debra, Phyllis; and his companion of 27 years, Elizabeth Betty Higgins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Paulisin. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 8:00 AM at St. Paulchr(39)s Catholic Church with Mnsg Patrick Gaughan officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery where military services will be conducted by ATHENS -merican Legion Post 21, ATHENS -FW Post 3477 and Albany VFW Post 9893. Friends may call at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home Friday from 6 to 8 PM where a Vigil for the Deceased will be at 6:00 PM.
