ATHENS - Wilson H. Carr, Sr., 85, of Athens, died Thursday morning, Feb. 26, 2009 at Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown. Born May 2, 1923, he was the son of the late Wilson H. and Elizabeth E. Steele Carr. He was a graduate of Shade High School, and retired from Columbus Southern Power Company. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and was a member and past commander of the ATHENS -merican Legion, Post 21 and a member of the New Marshfield VFW. He was a member and past Master of the New Marshfield Constitution Lodge 426 and a member of the ATHENS county Shrine Club and Aladdin Shrine Club in Columbus. He also was a member of the ATHENS -lks Lodge 973. He is survived by a son, Wilson H. (Lynn) Carr, Jr., of Athens; two grandchildren, Josie Carr, Curtis Hyatt; a sister, Nancy Imm of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jean Carr; a daughter, Norma Elaine McCune, and a sister, Marion Bricker. Graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at West Union Street Cemetery with Rev. Monte McCune officiating. Military services will be conducted at the grave by ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW and Albany VFW. Friends may call at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home Sunday 3 to 5 PM where Masonic services will be conducted by New Marshfield Constitution Lodge 426.
