Russell Shields

THE PLAINS - Russell E. Shields, 76, of The Plains, died Saturday morning, November 29, 2008 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born April 26, 1932 in Athens, he was the son of the late Leo D. and Mary Ethel Coots Shields. He was a graduate of ATHENS High School and retired as an instructor at Tri County Joint Vocational High School after 27 years of service. He attended The Plains United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Iona; four children, Karen Stout of Chillicothe, Mark (Karen) Shields of The Plains, Laura (Kenny) Bartlett of Athens, Kathryn (Steve) Bolin of Athens; six grandchildren, Jeff North, Nicholas and Nathan Bolin, Matthew Shields, Staci and Kenny Stout. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Shields, two brothers, Harold and Bobby Shields; a son-in-law, Jonathan Stout. Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Timothy Waugh officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.
