Gary Bobo

d. June 23, 2008

SHADE - R. "Gary& Bobo, of Powell, formerly of Shade, Ohio went home to be with our Lord on June 23, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with his health. Our beloved father, husband and friend was born in Shade November 18, 1937 to Robert Bobo of Chillicothe and the late Anna Catherine Chappell Bobo. He always held Shade close to his heart and was a proud son of Lodi Township. He graduated from Shade High School in 1956 and went on to proudly serve his country by enlisting in the Army upon graduation prior to being honorably discharged in 1958. After attending Ohio University he embarked on his career in the tire and trucking industry working for the Fruehauf Corporation for over 25 years prior to starting his own firm in the 1980chr(39)s to spend more time with his family. He married his wife of nearly 40 years in June of 1969 and proceeded to have a family in which he was extremely proud. He was actively involved with Standardbred horses and the harness racing industry for over 40 years with great passion. He was proud to attend the Little Brown Jug each and every year and had countless friends throughout the country who shared his intense spirit of the sport. Gary will be sadly missed for his incredible sense of humor and loved by all those he touched throughout the years. He is survived by wife, Susan; two sons, Scott (Peggy) Edwards, Robert G. (Teresa) Bobo II; two daughters, Cindy (Bob) Rhodes, Laura (Anthony) Kleon; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Kristy, Hanna, Christian, Matthew, Andrew, Anthony; a brother, Phil Bobo; a sister, Kathy (Fred) Seymour; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ray and Mary Angel Bobo; maternal grandparents, Milton and Kate Chappell; sister-in-law, Janie Bobo. Gary was always giving of himself to others and was always happy to lend a hand to those in need. He lived and worked for his family and they were truly his greatest joy in life. We will all sorely miss him and the look of sincere happiness in his eyes and the feeling he could give just being near to him. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, 168 Morris Avenue, Athens, Ohio 45701 with visitation Saturday from 11:00 Am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the R. Gary Bobo Memorial Fund, PO Box 1622, Powell, Ohio 43065 or by making a deposit at any Fifth Third Branch in Central Ohio to the Fund. All proceeds will go towards cancer research and the oncology department at Riverside Hospital with assistance of Dr. Scott Blair.
