ATHENS - Brent Spencer, 64, of Athens, died early Friday morning, February 15, 2008 at Cincinnati Veterans Administration Hospital. Born March 30, 1943 in Athens, he was the son of the late Emerson Spencer and Gertrude Hawk Sherwood. He was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam, a life member and past commander of The ATHENS -merican Legion Post 21, 40 et 8, life member of The ATHENS -FW Post 3477, the Cooties, ATHENS -edman Lodge, and The ATHENS -mVets Post 76. He is survived by his wife, Lura of Dayton; a son, J.B. Walker of The Plains; three step-daughters, Diana (Bill) Grosse of Hamilton, Teri Cox of Dayton, Brandy (Elliot) King of Mansfield, eleven grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Surber of Millfield, Pam Ramirez of Lebanon, PA; two step-sisters, Sharon (Stan) Kaldor of Gallipolis, Lynn (Barry) Bolin of Albany; two step-brothers, Keith Kelley of Marietta, Brian Kelley of Chauncey; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Tinkham. Services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Bob Pollock officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery where military services will be conducted by ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW, and Albany VFW.
