Alfred Cornell

ATHENS - Alfred Cornell, 92, of Athens, died Monday afternoon, January 14, 2008 at Doctorchr(39)s Hospital of Nelsonville. Born Oct. 2, 1915 in Athens, he was the son of the late John and Lona Morn Cornell. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart and was a former POW. He is survived by a niece, Leona Moore of Mansfield; several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws including Kenny and Karen Moore of Nelsonville and Keith and Joan Palmer of Athens. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alice Cornell; and two sons, Paul and John Cornell. Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ochr(39)Brien officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery where military services will be conducted by ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW and Albany VFW.
