ATHENS - Mildred Skinner Gift, 89, of Athens, died Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Ochr(39)Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 12, 1918 in ATHENS county, she was the daughter of the late Chris and Iva Marquis Skinner. Mildred was a 1936 graduate of Glouster High School and a member of Alexander Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Albany. Mildred worked many years at the Altmans Department Store and later for Martingchr(39)s Department Store and was a dedicated poll worker for 35 years. She is survived by two daughters, Beth (Ken) Stalnaker of Columbus, Judy (Dave) Snow of Athens; a grandson, Cameron Stalnaker of Columbus; a sister, Dorothy Losey; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo Gift in 1983; three sisters, Theo Moody, Margaret Markins, Christine Johnson; and a brother, Stanley Skinner who was killed in France during World War II. Services will be Monday at 11:00 am at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 1 to 4 pm.
