JEAN CARR ATHENS - Elizabeth Jean Carr, 85, of Athens, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at Ochr(39)Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 7, 1921 in Stewart, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Blanche McCune. She graduated from Rome-Canaan High School in 1939 and from Ohio University in 1943. She married Wilson H. Carr on April 25, 1943 at Camp McCain, Miss. She was employed mainly in social service for 22 years and retired from the ATHENS -ental Health Center Dec. 7, 1981. She served in the Waves during WWII and was a member of National Waves Clearwater Fla. Chapter. She was a member of American Legion Post 21 in Athens, American Legion Auxiliary , VFW Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary, Emblem Club and the Green and White Club. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Norma E. McCune of Clearwater, Fla.; a son, Wilson H. (Lynn) Carr, Jr. of Athens; two grandchildren, Curtis L. Hyatt of Columbus, Josie M. Carr of Athens; a sister, Norma McCune of ATHENS and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Allan McCune. Graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at West Union Street Cemetery with Rev. Monte McCune officiating. Military services will be conducted by ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW and Albany VFW. Per her request, there will be no calling hours observed. Arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home.
