Herb Evans

Herb Evans &nbsp; ATHENS - Griffith Herbert Evans, 80, of Athens, died Wednesday morning, July 11, 2007 at Ochr(39)Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born March 4, 1927 in Athens, he was the son of the late Griffith Llewellyn and Frances Finney Evans. He was a 1944 graduate of ATHENS High School and attended Ohio University where he was member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He enlisted into the US Navy during WWII where he was a Signalman on a Destroyer Escort the USS Dixie. He retired from Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company after 37 years. After Herb retired, he was hired by the Ohio University football program to film and video games for the past 19 years and also ran a candle shop from his home. He was a member of the ATHENS -lks, ATHENS -asonic Lodge, ATHENS county Shrine Club, First United Methodist Church, ATHENS -merican Legion, AmVets, and a life member of the ATHENS -FW. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sara Lee Roach Evans; a daughter, Sallie (Peter) McKeand of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; a brother, Gerald (Martha) Evans of Winston Salem, NC. Services will be Monday at 11:00 am at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Timothy Waugh officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery where military services will be conducted by ATHENS -merican Legion, ATHENS -FW and Albany VFW. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 3 to 6 pm where Masonic services will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio University Foundation, P.O.
