Janet Powell &nbsp; SHADE - Janet Mae Shockey Powell, 60, of Shade passed away Friday, June 15, 2007 at her home. Janet was born September 19, 1946 in Ravenswood, WV to the late Robert L. "Bob& Shockey and Effie Lucille Carder Shockey of Shade. She was a 1964 graduate of Shade High School, and retired from Ohio University after 18 years as a Housekeeping Supervisor. She was a member and past Pocahontas of White Swan Council #5. Janet was a friend to all she met. She always had a smile upon her face, even in the harder times of her life. She attended Shade Methodist Church and was a Shade resident for 50 years of her life. She is survived by a daughter, Michele Dickerson of Shade; a son, Richard Powell of New Marshfield; two grand daughters, Meisha Deiwert and Madalyn Dickerson both of Shade; two brothers, William "Bill& (Coral) Shockey of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, and Leonard (Deb) Shockey of Shade; six sisters, Connie (Jimmie) Ator of Albany, June (George) Franz of Apache Junction, Arizona, Kathy Shockey of Pomeroy, Pam (Scott) Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi, Debbie (Mike) Rosler of Shade, and Mary (James) Willey of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; her previous husband of 20 years and friend, Chuck Powell of Shade; mother-in-law, Lena Powell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Martha Powell, Margaret (Gerald) Ulbrich, Ernie (Joann) Powell, Danny (Shirley) Powell, Paul (Cheryl) Powell also were many friends; special friends, Jerry Phelps and Evelyn Wingrove; and many nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Gough; and two brothers, Robert F. and Steven Shockey. Services will be Tuesday at 1 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ochr(39)Brien officiating. Burial will be in the Jerseyville Cemetery in Shade with a gathering at the Shade Community Center following. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 PM.
