ATHENS - Donald Richard Poston, 72 of ATHENS died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a massive stroke Friday afternoon. Born October 30, 1934 in The Plains, he was the son of the late Charles and Zelda Martin Poston. He was a graduate of The Plains High School and faithful supporter of ATHENS High School sports, especially the football teams. He enjoyed being on the sidelines and often traveled with the team. He was a charter member of the ATHENS High School Hall of Fame. He received many awards for his service and will be missed by numerous people in Southeast Ohio where he lived his entire life. He attended Clarks Chapel Church. He was previously employed by Lawhead Press and Southern Ohio Coal Company. He is survived by his wife, Eva; five children, Tim Poston of Albany, Jill O???Neill of Matamoras, PA., Jamie Poston of Glen Spey, NY., Karen Bellar of Athens, and Don Kantner of Westerville; nine grandchildren, 5 special step-grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; three step-children, Gary Kanter of Athens, Mark Kantner of Albany and Patty Kantner Cline of Bridgeport, WV.; three brothers, Robert and Harold Poston both of Grove City and Kenneth Poston of Hilliard; and one sister, Shirley Gloyd of Grove City; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean McGrimm and Evelyn Yoho. Services will be Friday at 10 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Dean Blackburn officiating. Burial will be at Clarks Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.
