Melissa Harvey

ATHENS - Melissa Biddle Harvey, 92, of Athens, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at Lindley Inn. She was born on her grandfather's farm in Lee Twp., the George B. Allen farm, on Dec. 28, 1914. She was the daughter of the late A.C. Biddle, MD and Besse Allen Biddle, RN. She graduated from Albany High School and Ohio University where she belonged to Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After college she taught first grade before her marriage. She belonged to the Retired Teachers Assoc., and was a member of the Alexander Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a niece, Carolyn Gilmore of Athens; a nephew, David Allen (Jane) Gilmore of Murphysboro, IL.; a great nephew, Kent Bradley (Dia) Knudson of Athens; a great niece, Conni Ann (Robert) Nutter of Witchita, Kan,; a great great niece, Kali Nichole Knudson; one great great nephew, David William Hattan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Don E. Harvey who died in 1984; a sister, Margaret Biddle Gilmore. Private graveside services were Saturday at Alexander Cemetery with Bob Pollock officiating. Arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens.
