Donald L. BakerDonald L. Baker died August 6, 2005 at the Kimes Nursing and Convalescence Center in Athens, Ohio. He was 90 years old. He lived and worked for most of his life in the Cleveland, Ohio area. For 30 years he was with the former Lindsey Wire Weaving Company where he became Corporate Secretary and Industrial Relations Manager. He then undertook to make his hobby his vocation by embarking on a second career in keyboard sales with the Lukas Music Company. He retired in 1978 as a manager of Lukas Music Studio. Mr. Baker was a 1932 graduate of Shaw High School in East Cleveland, Ohio and attended Fenn and Cleveland Colleges. He was a fonner member of the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, the Cleveland Athletic Club, Pine Ridge Country Club and several Cleveland area yacht clubs where he was an avid sailor. He was an amateur genealogist and was proud of being able to trace his forbearchr(39)s emigration from England to Connecticut in the mid-1600s and from there to the Western Reserve in the early 1800s. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years Jane Carr Baker and his daughter Susan Baker Gleason, who lived in Athens, OH. He is survived by his daughter Beverly (Bruce) Stanek of Linesville, PA, son-in-law Jim (Liz) Gleason of Athens, OH, a brother Gordon (Mary) Baker of Hendersonville,NC, nephew David, niece Pamela, three grandchildren Carole (Dan) Abdella of Athens, OH, Paul Gleason of Columbus, OH, Jennifer (Nicholas) Toth ofElon, NC, and three great-grandchildren Lauren and Sarah Abdella and Quinn Gleason.
