CHAUNCEY - Arthur "Fritz" Smith, 85, of Chauncey died Saturday afternoon, November 27, 2004 at Ochr(39)Bleness Memorial Hospital.Born September 6, 1919 in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Arthur J. Sr. and Ruth Collins Smith. He was formerly the owner and operator of Artchr(39)s Welding Shop, and was retired from Ohio University. He was a member of the American Legion, ATHENS -lks, Chauncey Loins Club and the ATHENS -oat and Ski Club.He is survived by two sons, Roger (Mimi) Smith, and Larry (Kay) Smith all of Athens; two daughters, Janice (Paul) Gould of West Lafayette, and Sheila (Jack) Claxton of Athens; seven grandchildren, Philip Smith of Chauncey, Alan Smith of Cornelius, North Carolina, Kelly Smith Hawk of Albany, Damon Gould of West Lafayette, Richard Gould of Hudson, Jay Claxton of Dublin, and Renee Claxton Defrank of New Albany; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Elsie) Smith of Lancaster; and a sister, Margaret Lusk of Chicago, IL. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Bullock Smith, 1999.Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, ATHENS -ith Rev. Steve Bentley officiating. Entombment will be at ATHENS -emory Gardens.
