Lillian Lorene Carpenter Cooley

Lillian Lorene Carpenter Cooley, 89, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center.Born April 18, 1915 in Guysville, she was the daughter of the late Victor O. and Eva Fulton Carpenter.She was retired from Ohio University and a former employee of ATHENS -ity Schools. She was a life long member of Clarks Chapel Methodist Church.She is survived by three daughters, Joy J. Cooley of Hilo, Hawaii, Eva E. (Donald R) Poston of Athens, Patricia H. (Frank) Goebel of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Gary D. (Vicki) Kantner of Athens, Patty J. Kantner (Victor) Cline of Bridgeport, WV, Mark A. (Melodie) Kantner of Albany, Evelyn M. Goebel of Houston, TX, William S. (Barbara) Goebel of Maxwell, New Mexico, Frank E. (Kelly) Goebel, Reno, Nevada, Lillian V. (Mark) Burkey of Littleton, Colorado, Patrick C. (Karen) Goebel of Wooster; eleven great grandchildren, Amie Cline (David) Earnest of Clarksburg, WV, Andrew Cline of Bridgeport, WV, Jessica and Kimberly Kantner of Athens, Brandon Kantner of Athens, Madeline, Emma and Peter Goebel of Wooster, William B. Goebel of Maxwell, New Mexico, Kyle and Jenna Burkey of Littleton, Colorado; a great great granddaughter, Alexis Daria Earnest of Clarksburg, WV; a brother-in-law, Keith Scott of Athens; four nieces and a nephew. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Murphey Cooley; an infant brother; two sisters, Lucille Carpenter Scott, Phyllis Carpenter Cantner. Services will be Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be in Clarks Chapel Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 6 to 8 P.M.
