Sylvia Matheney

class=MsoNormal>ATHENS   Sylvia Matheney, 90, of The Plains, died Sunday afternoon, June 13, 2004 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center. She was born on March 17, 1914 in The Plains. She was the daughter of the late George and Ida Mae Scurlock Potts. She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God church and the Chauncey Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Merritt) Wilson of The Plains; a son, Bob (Mary) Sofronko of The Plains; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, George Sofronko; her second husband, Edgar Matheney; four brothers, William, John, Walt, and Wilbur Potts; three sisters, Faye Hunter, Dorothy Bobo, and Marie Dalton. Services will be Wednesday at 11 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Phil Foster officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
