CHAUNCEY - Alvin Workman, 91, died at the home of his granddaughter, Trinia Tinkham of Chauncey, Friday morning, October 29, 2004. Born January 23, 1913 in Echart, WV and was the son of the late Joe and Ida Workman.Alvin was retired from the coal mines and Ohio University. He was also a third degree mason of the Savannah Lodge in Guysville and a member of the Albany Baptist Church. Alvinchr(39)s life was lived in service to his Lord.He is survived by his wife, Emily Turner Workman of Russell Nursing Home; three sons, Lovell (Linda) Workman of Alabama, Garcie Workman of Cleveland, and Garner (Karen) Workman of Lancaster; two granddaughters raised in the home, Trinia (Clarence) Tinkham of Chauncey and Marlene McKinney of Baltimore, MD.; twelve additional grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren; five stepsons, and numerous step-grandchildren; also a very special friend, Jim Rose. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Sybil Mooney Workman; four brothers, Henry, Alva, Fred, and Kenneth; two sisters, Dovie Gibson and Reda Turner; three half sisters, Rosa Price, Thelma Osborne, and Effie Pettrey; two daughters, Delores and an infant girl; one grandchild, Jeffrey Scott Workman and one great grandchild, Heather Jones. Alvin will be missed greatly by his family and friends and was a true example of Godchr(39)s children. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener and was recognized for his beautiful flowers. He had a real love for the woods and nature. Everywhere he went he told people about his Jesus. Services will be Tuesday at 1 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Alvin?s friend and pastor, Bert Christian officiating. Burial will follow at the Clarkchr(39)s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 PM.
