GUYSVILLE – Gary R. Jarvis, 63, of Guysville died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Born January 3, 1949, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Etta M. Stover Jarvis. He was a 1967 graduate of Warren High School, and retired out of the Carpenters Union, Local 200. Working in the Building and Trade Industry since the age of 15, mainly in the City of Columbus, constructing many buildings at The Ohio State University and also here in Athens at Ohio University as a superintendent. One of his most memorable projects being the Waterfront Amphi Theatre in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was an avid Bluegrass Music lover, motorcyclist, ATV rider, and loved the game of golf. He was a past member of the Athens Motorcycle Club and the H.O.G. Club of Athens. Also, a member of the Sons of Amvets, Post 76, Athens, and a member of the Coolville Masonic Lodge # 337. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra “Deby” Bretz Jarvis; two children, Stephanie Jarvis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Gary Craig (Ticia) Jarvis of Guysville; three grandchildren, Haylli Marie, Collin Grant, and Kara Dawn Jarvis; one great granddaughter, Harper Ann; six siblings, Dennis (Diana) Jarvis of Athens, Chuck (Marsha) Jarvis of Cutler, Dea (Terry) Weese of Cutler, Randy Jarvis of Cutler, Ronnie (Terri) Jarvis of Cutler, and Victor Jarvis also of Cutler; two uncles, Larry Stover of Cutler and Major C. Stover of Lakeland, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Vanderhoof Baptist Church, 23305 Moyis Road, Coolville, Ohio, with Pastors Craig Holler and Roger Cummings officiating. Entombment will be at Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Masonic Services will Wednesday at 4:30 PM at the church.
